LUNAR INTRUDER

Formed through pure luck and a Facebook post, Lunar Intruder is Cameron Buyers (Rhythm Guitar and Vocals); Matthew Genet (Bass), Max Wolvekamp (Lead Guitar) and Ricki Allan (Drums)
Renowned for their explosive and energetic sets, Quake City's very own 4 piece started out in a cold Upper Riccarton garage and have firmly stamped their name in the Christchurch Music scene with their elements of local indie rock, garage rock, and psychedelic genres.
The band were first introduced into the Christchurch Music Scene in 2020 starting out in the backyards of University flats playing for friends and clubs, from here they were awarded First Place at the annual University of Canterbury "Battle of the Bands" competition. Since then, the boys have gone from strength to strength; hosting a handful of memorable backyard gigs, featuring on TV show soundtracks and performing at a multitude of Music Festivals, including Golden Bay's Twisted Frequencies and UCSA's Summer Stein and Tea Party.
This has led them to sharing the stage with New Zealand and Australian heavy weights: Mako Road, The Grogans, The Butlers, Dolphin Friendly, There's A Tuesday, Summer Thieves and the Raddlers.
Friday 22nd April, Lunar Intruder share their newest EP "Moonlight", a raw and stripped back, highly melodic repertoire of songs that each express something unique, but all fall into a similar flowing narrative throughout the listen. It touches upon growing up, losing loved ones, getting kicked out of your flat and the absolute turmoils of being in your twenties navigating what life throws at you.
Arranged to take the listener through the past 3 years of the boys experience as a band, the EP begins with the exciting and positive rush in "Off To Nowhere", hooking the listener in an inviting way, steadily making its way through the songs "Can't Stay Here", "Moonlight" and "All The Time" transcending from joyful to melancholic emotions resulting in one of the more defeating conclusions we've had ending an EP with "Light The Way".
With a sold out New Zealand tour just completed and multiple New Zealand Festivals on the horizon, Lunar Intruder is here to stay.
" Lunar Intruder have built new ground to walk on, steering in the right direction of where they want to be. The quality from the level of work that has gone into this EP is without parallel. I firmly believe from a personal point of view that Lunar Intruder are one of the hardest working bands in the New Zealand music industry that I have taken a liking to, they have proven this time and time again. " Still feeling like they have ways to go, they’re grinding their way to get out there. They’re one to watch this year." - YoVocal Magazine.
